Git mirrors for BuddyPress

We recently made some additions to the Git mirrors that we provide for BuddyPress. There are three options:

git://buddypress.git.wordpress.org/
- A read-only Git mirror of our development SVN (https://buddypress.svn.wordpress.org/).
- Hosted by WordPress.org, this is our most stable Git repo.
- Hashes could change in the future.
git@github.com:buddypress/BuddyPress.git
- A read-only Github mirror of our development SVN (https://buddypress.svn.wordpress.org/).
- Hashes will change in the future (to match buddypress.git.wordpress.org).
git@github.com:buddypress/BuddyPress-build.git
- A read-only Github mirror of our release SVN (https://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/buddypress/).
- Hashes will change in the distant future.
- This is repo is new.

As always, we’re happy to accept contributions made from either Git or SVN checkouts. For all practical purposes, the SVN and Git repositories are now equals. The majority of the core team now use a Git-SVN repo to contribute to BuddyPress.

All of them are git-svn. Not sure that is the difference and why there are so many repos. Could you please write about this in details?
So far – 2 the same read-only development git repos (difference only in links, hashes – who cares about this?), 1 for build. Why the build was created?
And why hashes (are you talking about commit hashes?) will change?

  So that means – not everyone? Why not to stuck to the only solution/repo/rule?

    Well, we do — we all have to commit in SVN. Whether that’s done directly in SVN or through the git-SVN, doesn’t matter what method people want to use.
    
    We don’t have the option to commit directly to Git. Hopefully one day.

  Build was created to allow people to submodule in the release versions of BuddyPress into their Git projects.

  The hashes only begin to matter if we switch to using Git as our main/canonical repository. Which we can’t do yet.
  
  Also they matter if people submodule any of the Git repos into their own projects.
  
  Just wanted to make this detail clear now so people can’t complain if/when they have to be changed in future (probably they will if/when we are able to use Git primarily).
